On Monday, I read an article about interesting facts that everyone thinks are true but are false. I remember a few of them. For example, in the minds of many people, ninjas are people dressed in black clothes. But in fact, the real ninja wore the same clothes as all the other people, so as not to stand out from the crowd. Another false fact is that the SOS signal had some meaning. In fact, it’s just a convenient set of dots and slashes in Morse code. Three dots, three slashes, three dots.

At home, I read Chapter 15 of “The Silver Chair” and in it, I read about how our four heroes finally got out of the caves. Three friends thought that Jill was attacked by enemies and stole it. However, it turned out to be the inhabitants of Narnia and they helped first Jill and then everyone else to get out. It was cold and snowing outside, and the people of Narnia were dancing and throwing snowballs and having fun. There was the Great Snow Dance celebration. When everyone saw Rilian, everyone recognized him as the future king of Narnia, they could feel it just by looking at Him. Then the children fell down, as they were very tired, and Prince Rillian and Puddleglum began to talk about what had happened to them all this time. At the end of the story, the oldest Dwarf said “And the lesson of it all is, your Highness, that those Northern Witches always mean the same thing, but in every age, they have a different plan for getting it.”

Comprehension questions of chapter 15

  1. What happened to Jill from her friends’ viewpoint? What did they feel like when Jill disappeared?
When Jill stood on Puddleglum’s shoulders, she climbed further and they stopped seeing her. Then they heard strange sounds as if someone closed Jill’s mouth and thought that her enemies had caught her.
  2. What had really happened to Jill?
When Jill crawled out of the cave she saw a lot of creatures that were dancing and having fun. They were celebrating the Great Snow Dance. One of the snowballs they were throwing flew into Jill and she couldn’t speak because of it, and then she asked them to help get her friends out.
  3. Why didn’t Jill know whether to laugh or cry?
Jill didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when she saw the dirty face of Eustace, who was half out of the ground, swinging his sword, trying to hit anyone who came near him.
  4. Why didn’t anyone doubt who Prince Rilian was?
Even though it’s been 10 years since the Prince disappeared, the Narnians realized it was him. There was something about him that made him look like a king, something that made it immediately clear who they were
  5. What did Prince Rilian talk about while the children slept? What did it mean?
While they slept Prince Rilian was talking over the whole adventure with the older and wiser Beasts and Dwarfs. And they all saw what it meant; how a wicked Witch (doubtless the same kind as that White Witch who had brought the Great Winter on Narnia long ago) had contrived the whole thing, first killing Rilian’s mother and enchanting Rilian himself. And they saw how she had dug right under Narnia and was going to break out and rule it through Rilian: and how he had never dreamed that the country of which she would make him king was his own country. And from the children’s part of the story, they saw how she was in league and friendship with the dangerous giants of Harfang.

Comprehension questions 10

  1. What was the newest addition to Morrie’s house when Mitch arrived for his fourth Tuesday? How did Mitch react to it?
They sat together, a few feet from the newest addition to the house: an oxygen machine. It was small and portable, about knee-high. On some nights, when Morrie couldn’t get enough air to swallow, he attached the long plastic tubing to his nose, clamping on his nostrils like leeches. Mitch hated the idea of Morrie connected to a machine of any kind and tried not to look at it as Morrie spoke.
  2. What you think Morrie meant by his aphorism, “Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live”?
The meaning of the aphorism that Morrie said is very deep. When people understand what death is, they will be able to rethink the meaning of their lives. They will try to do only the things that are important to them. It doesn’t really mean living everyday like the last, but when you realize that anything can happen to you, you will put more effort, because then you may not have time. Anyways, we all want to live your life in such a way that doesn’t regret anything in the end.
  3. How did Morrie apply the idea “if you accept that you can die at any time” to Mitch’s life?
Morrie said this because Mitch was too ambitious to notice everything around him. Mitch needed to understand that he was wasting time on unnecessary things and that he could die at any moment, and he would understand the meaning of life. material things are not so important.
  4. Who were Rob and Jon? How did they assist Morrie when they visited on Sunday?
They are Morrie’s sons. In this chapter, they didn’t help Morrie in any way, just talked to him a little and left.
